Orion Custom Framing celebrated the Grand Opening of their second design studio in San Francisco at 2024 Polk St. on June 1.
They’re bringing a fresh, modern take on the traditional craft of picture framing with an emphasis on craftsmanship and design. Owner, Micah Ruiz, has dedicated the last 22 years of his life to his craft and always had the dream of opening his own business to bring to the industry everything he felt it was missing. He wanted to bring his passion for preserving and beautifying art to a new audience by creating a modern, airy space that feels like no frame shop you’ve ever seen. Micah opened the first location of Orion Custom Framing in Bernal Heights, June 2022. They were met with an immediate positive response and had to expand their production into an offsite facility within the first year to keep up with their quickly growing business. Exactly 2 years to-the-day they’ve opened their second storefront to expand their reach even further!
They celebrated the evening with a ribbon cutting by Luanne Andreotti, Chair of the Achenbach Graphic Arts Council, which Micah serves as a newly appointed Board Director. A rare opportunity to see a private viewing of Ruth Asawa’s “Portfolio Flowers” Lithographs in an intimate setting, which will continue to be on view through July. Music by legendary professional skateboarder Corey Duffel and his multi-instrumentally talented wife Rachel Travers. There was a mix of museum curators, gallerists, members of Ruth Asawa’s family, artists and collectors which make up the beautiful community Orion Custom Framing has developed for itself over the last two years. This was a perfect way to introduce this gem of a small business to its new neighborhood!
